Monaco Hotel

Love the boutique hotel we stayed at on this trip. It has a very playful, modern decor and is conveniently located in downtown Portland, walkable to most restaurants, bars, and shops in the downtown area.

Love the wallpaper behind the check-in desk.

The large, red lobby has several seating groups, making it feel cozy despite its size.  The space feels more like a living room than a hotel lobby.  I actually saw a family playing Jenga in the lobby one night.  The hotel offers free coffee (ice-coffee too!) in the morning and happy hour in the evening.  I give lots of bonus points for these little conveniences and details.

The room also has a fun, whimsical feel.  The oversized orange headboard and the plaid pillows are very Jonathan Adler.  Oh, and you get lonely, the hotel will bring you a pet goldfish to keep you company!

I would totally stay here again if I am ever in the Portland area again. I would certainly consider staying at other Kimpton Hotels around the country.
