This is one of my favorite ramen places in the city. There seems to be a queue outside the restaurant at all hours of the day. I think the trick is go a bit earlier or later than normal meal time (say 2pm) and go alone. I am quite willing to sacrifice meal time conversation for really good ramen.
On this particular visit, I got the Karaka Men, the spicy version of the Tonkotsu (pork-based) noodle soup with Ippudo's special blend of hot spices, topped with pork chasu, kikurage mushrooms, cabbage, and minced pork. I also added a soft-boiled egg.
