Upper East Side is not usually were I choose to dine, especially not in the posh area around 5th Avenue. But I was going to a charity formal at the Pierre Hotel around the corner and didn't want to travel far in my 3-inch heels…voila, Rouge Tomate.
The restaurant surprised me on many levels. The space was elegant, without being stuffy. The restaurant was busy and had a lively vibe. The food was refined and interesting. The only downside was the slow service. We waited over 45 minutes for our entree! The manager did notice the mishap and comped our drinks, which was a nice gesture.
Verdict: I'd be keen to explore their menu more extensively.
