Gorilla Trekking has always been high on my bucket list. Mountain Gorillas can only found in the cloud forests of central Africa, namely in Rwanda, Uganda, and Democratic Republic of Congo. Given the political instability in Congo (US Travel Warning), my choices were really between trekking in Rwanda or Uganda. After much research, I decided on Rwanda for 2 reasons. One, shorter travel time between the airport and the National Park where the gorillas are found (2.5 hr drive between Kigali airport in Rwanda and Volcanoes National Park vs. 9-10 hour drive between Entebbe Airport in Uganda and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Two, ease of the trek. I mean, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda is called "Impenetrable" for a reason! My goal is to see the gorillas, not bragging rights on how hard I had to trek to get to the gorillas.
